Technical Requirments
The visuals, sounds and interactivity were created using the following programs: Macromedia Director, 3D Studio MAX, Poser, PhotoShop, Premiere, After Effects, Sound Forge and various other small programs and utilities. File Maker Pro was used for the research phase.
The main interface required a 17" USB Touch Screen kit. This touch screen kit fit over a regular monitor and worked as a standard mouse. The design of the interface was geared towards the style of this unique interface. For example, touchable objects were larger then typical icons, sine the user's finger is larger then the standard mouse pointer. Also note that the monitor was fully incased in a cocoon like form with just a circle window revealing the imagery. It was important to not have anything take away from immersing the viewer.
Several other materials were used to create the womb environment, such as plaster, chicken wire, cotton, foam, fabric, plywood and 2x3s. The research phase implemented the use of a flotation tank that was built by the artist.
