While offering free flotation sessions it was important for me to ensure the safety and comfort of all volunteers. I also wanted to ensure that their experiences were documented accurately. I implemented methods based on Dr. John C. Lilly's guidelines from "The Deep Self" Chapters 10 & 13.

Various friends and associates were invited to use the tank after a brief orientation. Any questions were encouraged and answered. Care was taken in order to avoid pre-program their experience. All volunteers read and signed the rules, terms and conditions before using the tank. All volunteers wanted to explore flotation without persuasion and were interested in sharing their experiences with others. Those that did not feel comfortable sharing were not pressured to.

Soon after emerging from a tank session, typically lasting about one hour, the volunteers were asked if they would like to share their experiences through writing, speaking or other communicative methods, such as art. They were offered privacy if desired and given options to ensure that they were comfortable. Each person's experience was then entered into a database that was organized by archetypal (universal) images.

Later I created a series of interactive animations that were based on the visions that volunteers had during their flotation sessions. The animations were networked based on similar archetypal images. Each individual's experiences were also grouped to their identity, so that a viewer could navigate through each person’s experiences or through similar experiences between different individuals.
